Family of Sloths

Yesterday I left my US family, who I hadn’t seen in many, many years. I got to spend 4 nights with them and even after all that time they were so amazingly welcoming, lovely and, well, “home”. It was sad to leave. There were a few tears on the plane. Hopefully some day soon I can get back over here – it’s just such a long way.

Happy Easter Sloth Friends!

It’s Easter Sunday today! Started with a family brunch complete with croissants, hot cross buns, sparkling moscato, and chocolate eggs of course. slothandrabbit

My little cousins also made Easter cards for the boy and I.

I got a card with a sloth coming out of an Easter egg, did you?

Brunch for sloths

Went out for brunch today with my lovely family.

You should always surround yourself with those who care about you and delight in your company. There is no greater joy in life.

Little Dancing Sloths

This weekend I journeyed to my hometown to see the fam. It was a nice, relaxing weekend spent with some of the most important people in my life. In particular, I went to see my beautiful niece perform in her end-of-year dance recital for:

Hip-hop…

…and contemporary.

She was absolutely stunning and so poised for a girl of only eight. No fear! Very proud to call myself her Aunt and have her blow kisses to me at the end of the performance. Kinda makes some of the things you worry about on a daily basis seem trivial.

PS: The second pic is from some cute little greeting cards available on Etsy.

Family-filled weekend

On the weekend (I know, I didn’t post anything… bad girl) I had my sister and niece stay over at my house Saturday night. Then on Sunday we all saw extended family. Then had dinner at the boy’s parent’s place on Sunday night. So it was a family-filled weekend for sure!

It’s very cute, but my niece claims to love anything that I love. She “loves” Harry Potter and has the costume (admittedly which I gave her), movies, etc. She also “loves” sloths! Haha positive influences much? Anyway, I have a small number of sloth books on my book case at home, and she decided to read them all in the car on the way to see family Sunday. THEN when she finishes them all, you know what she says?

I love sloths. I love them even more than  you, Aunty Sarah.

Now, I’m happy she loves sloths. And they say that mimickry is the highest form of flattery. But…..uhh… nuh-uh. I don’t think so sista. Watch yo-self. sloth-kiss-many

Getting them while they’re young

My young niece and cousins know all too well my obsession with sloths. Today was a month since my birthday so I packed up my cards that had been sitting out since then, and realised I forgot to post about this card that my 7 year old cousin made for me:

Not sure, but I think that’s a dolphin on top of the winner’s podium. And I may have seen recently on Facebook that she now has a toy sloth of her very own! Talk about having a positive influence!

Grandmother Sloth

This week my Grandma celebrated her 76th birthday. To honour her, I sat down and read this book: “Grandmother Sloth; How She Got Her Smile”, available to buy on Amazon.com.

Grandmother looked up with a pleasant expression and told JJ and Maria a story about an ancient time when sloths were fast and had no smile.
