Seriously. Best boyfriend ever.
This was my birthday present from my boyfriend (well, part of it, he is also taking me on a long weekend away next month). A sloth for him, and a sloth for me! I didn’t ask for it, I never mentioned anything about it, he just did it off his own bat. And I’m sure he wouldn’t be sleeping on sloths if he wasn’t with me. He just knew that I would love it and wanted to make me happy. He definitely succeeded.

Hens, chicks, and crickets
Long weekend just gone was a busy one! I haven’t posted at all, apologies…
Saturday was an all-day wine tour for a good friend’s hen’s day.
Sunday night I caught up with my best girl who’s just gotten back from a trip overseas. It was sooo good to see her! Had a HUGE Mexican dinner followed by a churros date at Chocolate Taperia.
Then Monday was Australia Day, and our group all spent the day together having a BBQ lunch, playing backyard cricket (new PB woooo) and having a few drinks whilst listening to the JJJ Hottest 100.

Comfy beds for sleepy sloths
The bed got delivered yesterday. But it was not a very good day…
The mattress got upstairs fine, but the base of the ensemble wasn’t going anywhere. The delivery guys just dumped it with us and now we have to get a refund and pay for return delivery. Oh well. So then we had to try and find a bed frame for the mattress as it would take up to 8 weeks for a (more expensive) split base.
A long trip to Ikea later, and we thought we had one picked. But then the stated dimensions of the mattress were bigger than the frame, meaning it wouldn’t fit. So we abandoned all plans there. Went home and actually measured the mattress, and it was slightly smaller than the stated dimensions, so it would fit.
It was over 40 degrees yesterday, as it will also be today, so after all that we were pretty hot, tired and fed up. When we got invited to a family member’s house for a swim, we figured it was a good idea. It was. Then we looked at the time and it was 8:05pm, so we quickly dried off, went back to Ikea on the way home, grabbed the bed frame and a couple new side tables (with the frame sticking out our current ones wouldn’t fit anymore), and left Ikea at closing time 9pm. Got the flatpacks home and put the bed together all with help from the boy’s parents.
Finally, at 11:30pm, our bed was ready and we could make it with the new clean crisp white sheets. What a day. I guess it was worth it all though… the bed looks great and Doza and I (and the boy) had a wonderful sleep last night (despite the 30 degree overnight temperature)!

Finally, after trying out countless mattresses, we have selected and bought our new bed. Looking forward to having better nights’ sleep and waking up more comfortable. I really do have some sort of “Princess and the Pea” complex!
Anyway, every sloth should have a beautiful comfy place to lay its head.
Now we just need to get it up the stairs… oh….
Dreaming of the perfect bed
The Boxing Day sales have seen the boy and I trying out countless mattresses today in our quest to find the perfect bed. Such hard work. Should have taken some experts with us…
Almost fell asleep testing beds today
May be getting a new bed after Christmas. So today the boy and I went and got “tested” for our ideal mattress! It basically involved lying on this mechanical bed for about 5 minutes while it moved underneath us and “analysed” us. In the end we both had exactly the same ideal firmness etc (altogether now, awww…).
After that the salesman made us test a whole bunch of mattresses. I thought my current mattress was okay, but, wow. Nothing like these. So SOFT. Almost fell asleep a couple times, they were so amazing. Just the thing for sleepy sloths.
Hmmm. Dreading going to bed now on my inferior mattress. #sadface.

It’s been a busy couple of days this weekend.
Bed to Myself
The boy’s gone away with with his other boys for the weekend. Sure, I’ll miss him, but I’m looking forward to some “me time” for the next couple of days. I’ll get the bed to myself! Well, apart from the other sixteen sloths who’ll be sharing it…
Family-filled weekend
On the weekend (I know, I didn’t post anything… bad girl) I had my sister and niece stay over at my house Saturday night. Then on Sunday we all saw extended family. Then had dinner at the boy’s parent’s place on Sunday night. So it was a family-filled weekend for sure!
It’s very cute, but my niece claims to love anything that I love. She “loves” Harry Potter and has the costume (admittedly which I gave her), movies, etc. She also “loves” sloths! Haha positive influences much? Anyway, I have a small number of sloth books on my book case at home, and she decided to read them all in the car on the way to see family Sunday. THEN when she finishes them all, you know what she says?
I love sloths. I love them even more than you, Aunty Sarah.
Now, I’m happy she loves sloths. And they say that mimickry is the highest form of flattery. But…..uhh… nuh-uh. I don’t think so sista. Watch yo-self.
