How to Train Your Sloth

It was great going out for dinner with my good friend last night. We talked for hours, shared a bottle of wine, and just had a really fantastic catch-up. Then I got home late and my sloths were all waiting for me in the bedroom so I just had to put a movie on for them. We watched How to Train Your Dragon 2, which I’d seen when it was in cinemas, but was just as good on small screen. Seriously, if you’ve never seen the first one, you NEED to get on it. My favourite animated film of all time. That’s right, ahead of all Disney films even. slothdragon

Baby goats or baby sloths?

Well for me, it’s a no-brainer, obviously. And one day I will get to meet a baby sloth. However, I got to hold the cutest baby goat today at work. The university put on a “stress less” day (exams are coming up) and I muscled in on the undergrads and got to go in the petting zoo in the first group.

I thought with Taylor Swift’s new album coming out that this was appropriate… BUT if you think it’s going to be the famous Trouble feat. goats, think again…

Pygmy Sloths of Panama

nickbakerpygmy

Watch this documentary by biologist Nick Baker on finding a wild three-toed pygmy sloth in the mangroves of Panama. Whilst two-toed and three-toed sloths are fairly abundant in the wild, pygmy sloths (about 40% the size of a normal three-toed sloth) are critically endangered. Only around 100 remain in the wild.

Skip to 39 minutes in for the finding of the pygmy sloth.
