Hamish and Andy’s Gap Year this year was spent in South America. Episode 4 sees them jetting off to Costa Rica to visit some sloths and learn about their sleepy ways! Watch the video from 33:53 for the sloth segment.
After meeting the sloths, the boys got a little sleepy on a special tea… and began their sleepy sloth challenge…
The sleepiness appeared to take a while to wear off! Welcome to the life of a sloth!
I would like to know the name of the sleepy tea used in the Hamish and andy show in the sleepy sloth challenge>? and where could I purchase some?
thank you
Hi Lisa!
I’ve tried looking for the name of the tea but as yet have been unsuccessful
However, from my reading I have a suspicion that the tea Hamish and Andy actually drank contained Benzodiazepines (or something similar), drugs that are prescribed to reduce anxiety and help people sleep quickly. I’m not sure if that’s the case, but if so, you probably can’t get them shipped!
If you still want a Costa Rican tea that will aid sleep, maybe check this “Dormy” tea out: http://costaricanstore.com/mondaisa-sleeping-tea-te-dormy-costa-rica.html You can get it shipped to Oz as well.
Good luck!
I would like to know the name of the sleepy tea used in the sleepy sloth challenge on Hamish and andy in costa rica?
thank you
I would like to know the name of the place that Hamish and Andy went to and whether it is open to the public. Thanks 😉
Hi Tracie,
I’ve been trying to find the clip from the episode (as the link I originally shared no longer exists) to see whether they mention it. You may have to watch the Hamish and Andy DVD if you can and see if they say the place name. From memory, they don’t, so I’m sorry I can’t give you a definite answer!
However, I can tell you of a couple places with sloths in Costa Rica that you can visit:
The most famous is the Sloth Sanctuary (http://www.slothsanctuary.com/) that gives tours starting from $25.
A bunch of national parks are also home to sloths, see Monteverde, Manuel Antonio, Fundacion Santuario Silvestre de Osa.
Another option is to contact your local zoo as I did, and if they house them, they may arrange for you to meet one personally!
I hope this helps
Sarah
