Dozing in the snow

I have been home now for just over 2 weeks. The trip was AMAZING, even the work part was really interesting and relevant to my own research. I captured this shot of Doza on the last day, looking out from our balcony. He didn’t mind the snow, but preferred to be snuggled up near the furnace 😉IMG_0225

Family of Sloths

Yesterday I left my US family, who I hadn’t seen in many, many years. I got to spend 4 nights with them and even after all that time they were so amazingly welcoming, lovely and, well, “home”. It was sad to leave. There were a few tears on the plane. Hopefully some day soon I can get back over here – it’s just such a long way.

Babeh sloth family

So I’m off overseas tomorrow morning for just over a week. Primarily, it’s for work (perks, right?) as I’m going to a conference in the US. But I get to spend Easter with family I have over there! Haven’t seen most of them in like, 16 years! I guess most of them have grown up now, huh.

Unlike these BABEH SLOTHS! They are so ADORBS!!slothsanctuary babies

A Sloth in Sydney

Last night the Boy and Doza and I got back from 6 days away in Sydney, NSW. A welcome break from all the paperwork I’ve been doing over the last few weeks.

We went to the theatre (twice), went shopping, lunched with friends, hiked around Manly, and even climbed the Harbour Bridge! It was an exhausting holiday! But a great week away.

Missed the flight

So, right now, at this moment, I am supposed to be on a flight direct to Bali, Indonesia. But, as expected, it was cancelled this morning due to the volcanic ash cloud.

It’s hard not to be upset about it, at the very least, pissed off. And this is the week between me finishing my last job and starting a new one, so it’s not really possible to reschedule the holiday for a later date.

However, we managed to scrape together another trip instead! The airline changed our destination, and we booked a different hotel and all done. We lose a little bit of money, of course, but overall it’s not the worst outcome. And there’s no real risk of getting “stuck” over there like it would be if we went to Bali.

At the end of the day, I get to go somewhere WARM, and RELAX, and have a GOOD TIME! And be back in time for work next week with no stress or anxiety. primatography hibisucs

EUROTRIP

I’m in PARIS! After 24 hours in transit the boy and I have arrived in Europe to start a 4 week (working) holiday. Our first stop is Paris for a few nights. We got to the Louvre this afternoon and ate at a tiny French restaurant (€17.50 for 3 course meal, oui, sil vou plait!!).

Doza slept in my lap the entire journey on the plane. Here he is watching French “Who wants to be a Millionaire?” With his new little backpack, perfect for traveling.

And now, it is time for sleep.
