Leonard Street

There’s a shop that I’ve found in Ebenezer Place in Adelaide – Leonard St. Online store here. It has a bunch of clothes with this distinct sloth print, tops, pants, dresses, bags, even shoes. Pretty pricey, but worth a look!Leonard St

One year since the best experience of my life

I can’t believe today is one entire year since the best experience of my life to date: meeting, petting and feeding the only sloths in Australia, at Adelaide Zoo. I got to interact with Al G (top), and Miss C (bottom), the oldest sloth in the world. Sadly, Al G passed away earlier this year after contracting an infection, and as such, personal visits like this are no longer allowed at the Zoo. So I was particularly fortunate to be able to have this experience when I did.

Ironically, I was looking after my little cousins this morning, and had to drop them off at the zoo at 11am for a visit with friends. Ahh memories. One day I may get to experience the joy again of being able to interact with these amazing creatures. alg missc

I love my new sloth brooch!

Last night was the opening of the Fringe Festival in Adelaide, and the city has all sorts of random funky things around every corner this time of the year. It’s a great time to be in this city!

Between shows last night I stumbled across the hipster alleyway Ebenezer Night Markets in the East End. I came across a stall run by Jemity Design, who makes fantastic animal jewellery right here in Adelaide, which is sold on Etsy. She also donates 5% of all proceeds to the World Wildlife Fund to promote conservation. And I picked up this GORGEOUS SLOTH BROOCH! Slothbrooch

You can get some cute sloth earrings like this, from here!

Anyway, then I couldn’t resist wearing it for the rest of my Fringe-y evening. I don’t normally wear brooches, but this one will definitely be making many appearances. slothbroochfringe

Rest in Peace Al G

I got some sad news yesterday. One of the sloths that I met back in July last year, Al G, passed away after he couldn’t recover from a gastro infection. Now poor Miss C will be all alone. The zookeeper told me when I met them that no more sloths would come into the zoo after these two were gone, so now only the one will be present at Adelaide Zoo.

I was quite upset to hear of this, and only wish him rest in peace. Al GSandAlgae

Had to Walk the City-to-Bay “Fun” Run cus I’m such a Sloth

I walked 12km today. It was tough, and now I’m quite sore! The City-to-Bay was on and no I didn’t run it but as my friend was giving away a walking entry I decided to give it a go.

Did it in 2 hours too, which wasn’t bad I thought. Not sloth-like at all!

I hate running. A lot. And I never want to get “good” at it because it would mean putting myself through hell just to be able to do it, and why would I want to do something that makes me feel so much absolute shite!?exercisesloth

A Sloth, Needs a Beard

Went to see The Beards live at Jive in Adelaide last night. 4 albums full of songs about beards! So who wants to start The Sloths? Songs about sloths! All the time! What could be better!?

Here’s a few awesome pics of sloths with beards and beards with sloths. Nice.sloth beard

Newsworthy

The Saturday Advertiser newspaper (yesterday) had a liftout for “The Cutest Animal Pictures of All Time”. No sloth pictures. No good. How can you have a cutest animal lineup without a cute cute CUTE CUTE sloth!!??

Luckily, there was a couple redeeming factors.

I spotted TWO “wild facts” about sloths on separate pages of the liftout. I love that sloths are newsworthy now. About time people start appreciating them! Still, wish there’d been a cute pic I could have gasped over when I saw.

Footy Rivalry

Yesterday went to the Adelaide v Port Adelaide AFL showdown, at the new Adelaide Oval. About 50,000 people there, the atmosphere was incredible! And my team won, so that was even better. Unfortunately the boy was going for the opposition, so it was a bit like this at home:
