Hamish and Andy’s Sleepy Sloth Challenge

Hamish and Andy’s Gap Year this year was spent in South America. Episode 4 sees them jetting off to Costa Rica to visit some sloths and learn about their sleepy ways! Watch the video from 33:53 for the sloth segment.

hamishandandysloth5The sleepiness appeared to take a while to wear off! Welcome to the life of a sloth!

      Hi Tracie,
I’ve been trying to find the clip from the episode (as the link I originally shared no longer exists) to see whether they mention it. You may have to watch the Hamish and Andy DVD if you can and see if they say the place name. From memory, they don’t, so I’m sorry I can’t give you a definite answer!

However, I can tell you of a couple places with sloths in Costa Rica that you can visit:
The most famous is the Sloth Sanctuary (http://www.slothsanctuary.com/) that gives tours starting from $25.
A bunch of national parks are also home to sloths, see Monteverde, Manuel Antonio, Fundacion Santuario Silvestre de Osa.

Another option is to contact your local zoo as I did, and if they house them, they may arrange for you to meet one personally!

      I hope this helps :)
      Sarah
